Who is D.B. Cooper?
Imagine a man wearing a business suit and sunglasses, tying $200,000 in cash to his body, and jumping out of an airplane on a stormy night.
That's what the man known as "D.B. Cooper" did after hijacking a plane on Thanksgiving Eve in 1971. The FBI conducted a massive manhunt, searching the mountains of Washington State by foot, plane, and boat, even using a submarine to scour a deep lake. But they could find no trace of Cooper, his parachutes, or the money he stole. Nine years later, a small packet of ransom money was found more than 20 miles from where police suspected Cooper would have landed after his jump. Did Cooper get away? Did he die during the jump? And where is the rest of the money? The FBI finally stopped their official investigation in 2016, but they opened their files to the public. Many amateur sleuths continue to hunt for answers, but after more than 50 years, the D.B. Cooper affair remains the only unsolved case of air piracy in aviation history.

Where is Amelia Earhart?
On July 2, 1937, Amelia Earhart disappeared without a trace while attempting to become the first woman to fly around the globe.
Amelia Earhart and her navigator, Fred Noonan, had just two more stops to make in their record-setting flight around the world. But cloudy weather made it difficult to navigate and there were problems with Amelia's radio. In her last message, she reported that they could not find the island where they were supposed to land and their fuel was running low. They were never heard from again. So what happened to Amelia and Fred? If they crashed in the ocean, why hasn't their plane wreckage been found after years of searching? Could they have survived as castaways on a deserted island? Were they captured by the Japanese army and executed for spying? Did they return to the United States and live out the rest of their lives in secrecy? Governments have scoured oceans and deserted islands. Scientists have analyzed radio signals, human bones, and jars of freckle cream. Amateur sleuths have dedicated their lives to the search for answers. But nobody knows for sure what happened. The disappearance of Amelia Earhart is one of the greatest unsolved mysteries in modern history.

What happened to the "Ghost Ship" Mary Celeste?
On November 7, 1872, the Mary Celeste set sail from New York City on her way to Italy. A month later, the ship was found floating off the coast of Portugal. Everything on board seemed normal, but the entire crew was gone, never to be heard from again.
There was six-months worth of food still on board, so they didn't run out of food. There was no sign of a struggle and all the cargo and their personal belongings were still on board, so they weren't attacked by Pirates. The ship was still seaworthy, so it didn't seem like the weather was the issue. But the lifeboat was missing and everyone was gone. So what could have happened to force the captain to abandon ship? Theories range from a mutiny by the crew, to a seaquake, to an explosion caused by the vapors of the alcohol they were carrying as cargo. Some even said the ship was attacked by a giant squid. Despite official investigations and years of speculation, there is no definitive answer for what happened on the "Ghost Ship" Mary Celeste.
